We're building Tip-Top Berry Farms with every dollar earned here! The Nursery at Tip-Top Berry Farms funds the development of a 5.35 acre blueberry farm in beautiful Wellford, South Carolina. The land has never been developed. The Kudzu must go, so the berries can thrive.
Born in Iowa, with both sets of grandparents having been farmers, I've always known I've wanted to become a grower, but never knew what I wanted to produce or where to do it.
As a kid we moved to California and there my family reveled in the fruit of America's bread basket, the San Juaquin Valley. We gleaned table grapes, picked navel oranges at Jessup's Orange Works in Strathmore, bled profusely picking thorny boysenberries in Terra Bella and ended up picking my favorite, blueberries in Porterville.
It's the berry picking experience that I want to bring to the Spartanburg/Greenville area of South Carolina. The picking experience is so different than the grocery store experience, especially for kids who are plugged in/tuned in all the time. I want to offer families and friends the opportunity to experience great food at its source, tasting and trying before adding to the bucket.
